Grand Master Scrabble

Scrabble is a confident spitfire of a dog that loves to run. He easily picked up his WC at 6 months old and got his JH at 8 months.

He is an extremely good marking dog and runs with lots of style. He inherited his father's water entry and is one of the fastest swimmers I've ever seen. Like both of his parents, he has lots of drive and a ton of natural talent.

He finished his Senior Hunter Title in 4 straight challenging tests! He had a fabulous start in Master, qualifying in 11 straight tests before he broke his streak by breaking on a short bird. Scrabble easily finished his Grand Master Hunter Title in July 2018 and in August 2019 he finished the Canadian Master National and is now a National Master Hunter.

His obedience career started by being entered in one Novice B round at the Canadian National Specialty in Aug 2015 scoring a 198 1/2 . He finished his CD with a HIT.

He qualified in 3 straight Open B rounds to get his CDX with all scores of 196 1/2 April 2016. Scrabble finished his Canadian OTCH at the Golden Retriever Club of Canada's National Specialty in Surrey BC July 2017! He then finished his OTCHX & MOTCH in Red Deer November 2017, also picking up his first GMOTCH leg!

I am proud to say that Scrabble is officially a Grand Master Obedience Trial Champion (Oct 2018)!

He is now the 3rd Golden Retriever in Canada to have attained a show championship, Grand Master Hunter and Grand Master obedience Trial Champion. His father Puzzle was the first in Canada. In 2018 he was the number 7 obedience dog in Canada (all bred).

Canadian Champion

Scrabble has his Canadian Champion. He went BOW and BOB over 6 specials under breeder judge Cathy Barlow. He's won Best Field Dog at the GRCC National Specialty, Alberta specialty, as well as the Westwind Sporting Dog Show Specialty.

He was awarded the Prestigious Nan Gordon Memorial Trophy at the 2015 GRCC National Specialty following in his father's footsteps who was the 2012 Nan Gordon Winner. He then won the Nan Gordon Memorial Trophy for the second time at the 2017 GRCC National. winning the Field Dog Class, made the final cut for Best of Breed, 197 in Utility B obedience and qualified in the WCX.

Scrabble won the Nan Gordon Memorial trophy for the 3rd time at the GRCC National 2018 Surrey BC & Now in Calgary, AB at the 2022 National. He's won the Nan Gordon for the 4th time at almost 10 years old: WCX Pass, 198 in Open 18B and an Award of Merit from the Field Dog class!!!!!

He has a pleasing head, good shoulder layback, a rock solid topline and full dentition with a scissors bite. His movement is effortless and he could go all day long. He is 23 1/2" tall and weighs 73 lbs

He is smart as a whip and full of energy, yet he has a wonderful on/off switch.... thank goodness!.

He gets along well with everyone he meets, dogs, cats and horses. We train with intact males and bitches and never have any issues.

April 2025:

At 12 years and 4 months old Scrabble picks up 2 BOS wins to earn 6 Grand Champion points at the Red Deer Kennel Club dog show!

Scrabble finished his Rally Novice Title with 3 First place Ribbons and 3 perfect scores.

He also passed 7/8 open and utility classes with all scores over 195 at our first trials during Covid at the Cal k9 trials.

Scrabble was awarded a triathlon certificate for his performance at the GRCA National in CA.

He won the Utility A class, 3rd in Team obedience, WCX pass, CCA title and new Versatility certificate too!!

The following day he picked up his first leg towards his GMOTCH under Judge Paul Oslach with 197 1/2 in both open and Utility B.

Scrabble Wins The 2015 Nan Gordon Trophy

2015 GRCC National Specialty in Calgary, AB

He was first in the Field Dog conformation class, got a 198 1/2 in Novice B obedience and earned his WCX in the field to be the versatility champion. Scrabble followed in his father's footsteps to win this prestigious trophy. Puzzle won this trophy in 2012, unfortunately he had to cheer on his son from the sidelines due to a tendon injury. This is the second time a father son has won this trophy.
